NEWS FROM THE FLOCK!

New Seed Drill Purchased for PA Game Commission

We entered into a cooperative agreement along with the Moraine Chapter of the N.W.T.F. and the Pa Game Commission to purchase a seed drill to be used to enhance wildlife habitat throughout Butler County. This will enable LMO Dale Hockenberry and his Fod and Cover Corp crew to plant various grasses and seeds to provide wildlife with both food and cover.

Butler County Waterfowl USA, through the generous donations of all those attending our fund-raising banquets, once again makes an investment in the future of wildlife and hunting in Butler County!

THANKS EVERYONE!

The Muddy Creek Project has been Completed!

Check out the Pictures Page for Photos of where your donations have gone!

Randy Pilarsik, W.C.O. for Western Butler County, and I visited the site on Saturday, September 23. All construction has been completed, the banks have been stabilized, and all the equipment has been removed from the site. The Control Structure boards are in the process of being cut by L.M.O. Dale Hockenberry and his crew, will be bolted together, and should be completed and installed shortly.

the average depth of the flooded area will average approximately  3 feet deep (with the exception of the Muddy Creek channel) making the area accessible with waders and providing  a flooded timber environment. This project will maintain the same water level even after Lake Arthur is drawn down for the Winter, allowing for some good late season waterfowling.

If you would like to go to the site to see it for yourself, you can access the site from Burtner Rd --- a new road (open to foot traffic only) can be accessed where Burtner road begins to climb away from the State Park property going East on the right side. This is app. a 1.5 mile hike along the old railroad bed that will bring right out to the site. You can also access the site from North Country Club Rd and walk down the road bearing to the right at the end gate. You are not permittted past the gate with a motorized vehicle.
